Lester E. Powell, 63, of Rt. 2, an employee of Freedman's and Rapp's clothing firms here since 1934, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday in Culver Hospital after a long illness. He was a son of Thomas C. and Elva Linn Powell and was born July 27, 1907, in Montgomery County. He attended school at New Market and also Crawfordsville High School. Mr. Powell was married to Dorothy Weaver in Crawfordsville on May 3, 1936. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Richard McDonald of this city and Miss Marcia Powell of Lafayette, and three brothers, Leslie of Sebring, Fla., Lyle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Thomas Clayton of Crawfordsville. The deceased was a member of the First Christian Church and IOOF Lodge. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Howard Miller officiating and burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
